Attention LAXCF family! Due to popular request, we are providing our members Olympic Weightlifting specific classes.

BEGINNING ON FEBRUARY 20
ALL WEDNESDAY EVENING CLASSES WILL BE OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING SPECIFIC.
5PM, 6PM, 7PM, 8PM

Even more exciting, we have hired a coach to specifically meet your oly needs. Meet SAVANNAH BROWN:

In her own words:
I was introduced to CrossFit 5 years ago in the off season sports. I immediately fell in love with the sport and the rush of pushing myself passed my believed capabilities. Shortly after, I earned a CFL1 and began coaching. I felt myself becoming more drawn to weightlifting and I decided that I wanted to branch out and pursue Olympic weightlifting to start competing. I train out of Takano Athletics under USA weightlifting hall of fame coach, Bob Takano who has coached weightlifters into the Olympics.

I have learned how to fire and activate the smallest muscles to make very small changes to a lift, and most importantly how to keep the form accurate. As a coach I would love to share my knowledge and get more athletes in CrossFit more comfortable with weightlifting and more confident in their lifts to create stronger and bolder athletes at LAX CrossFit.

While we are at it, here are some Oly etiquette reminders for us all:

  • Don’t walk or stand in front of someone starting or mid-lift.✓✓✓✓✓✓
  • Staring is natural, but don’t overstay your welcome. Appreciate the lift, then move on✓✓
  • Keep the platform and equipment clean after you finish the session, and don’t leave your shit lying around✓
  • Don’t slam the bar (if it’s not yours / at all)✓
  • Reserve better bars for Olympic lifts & those close to competition✓
  • Don’t step over, on, or kick the bar✓
  • Don’t step on the plates
  • Pair plate brands to ensure even wear
  • Encourage someone attempting a PR
  • Don’t have a tantrum / practice self-control
  • Communicate with the person you’re sharing a platform with
  • Don’t Lebron the chalk
