Athlete Spotlight: Abby


I could say some things about how quickly Abby learns movements, or how she came in with some serious gymnasticy skills, but really all you need to know is that you better spell her name ‘ABBY’, not ‘ABI’!!! And here’s a little more insight to what makes this little beast tick…

Name something that you would have never thought you’d be able to do before you found CrossFit, but now it’s a regular thing you do all the time.

Cayenne pepper – I like things spicy!

Favorite was probably Airheads, least favorite raisins (because let’s be real that’s not a candy)

What was the first live concert you ever attended?

The Grammy’s

If you had to get a tattoo (no choice here) and it had to be larger than 3 inch by 3 inch, and you could never have it removed, what would you get and where would you get it?

A full back piece or sleeve of plum blossoms and geometric shapes. My middle name means “Outstanding Plum Blossom” in Chinese and I like the contrast between soft and hard lines.

What is a cheat meal you don’t feel one bit guilty about?

All my meals would probably be considered cheat meals!

Whats your favorite part about CrossFit?

Living in LA and having the constant pressure as a woman to look a certain way, CrossFit makes me feel confident, strong and healthy. I like having a place of belonging outside of work and my normal social circles. I don’t think all boxes are as inviting as LAX CrossFit, so I am really happy being a member of a diverse, kind and fun community of people.
