Well, I was finally right about the dumbbells not reappearing yet again. But that was the end of me being right. In my head I thought for sure there would be double unders, wall balls, and I thought if a barbell was involved it would be squat cleans. Oh well, TheDaveCastro tricked us all again. In fact, I’ll take another look, but I’m pretty sure nobody was very close in our weekly Guessing Game. It’s especially tough to guess when the time domain isn’t static and changes depending on performance. For most people I suspect this will be an 8 minute workout.

Ro vs. Boz

I may have my occasional suggestion regarding the Open. Usually my most consistent one is that workouts like 17.3 and 16.2 would be better with different time increments, making them much more inclusive. In 16.2 I thought making each interval 4 minutes would have given many more people a chance at those heavier weights, and no harm to the top athletes as they would have crushed it just as they did. Same thing in 17.3, making the first 6 rounds cutoff at 10 minutes instead of 8 minutes opens the door for so many more people to get to the 185# snatches. Those bigger guys that may have the ability to snatch heavier weights would have a much higher chance of getting into those weights if they had a little more time. I know this does not affect any athlete going to Regionals, and that’s kind of my point.

Okay, enough rant. My point in all that is that my absolute favorite thing in the Open lately has been Ro vs. Boz! It’s awesome and really fun to watch. Ro and Boz are both phenomenal athletes, but much more in the stratosphere of most of us normal folk. That makes it cool in a big way. Add to that the win streak that Boz had going, and the drama of the beat down Ro was taking and you have some real interesting must-see action. Now here’s my serious complaint (not a suggestion): Why is this the only place to watch Ro vs. Boz? And why is the quality so poopy?!? No clock, no rep count – what’s going on? It’s one of the coolest things to watch in the Open and it’s not getting its due attention. I’m guessing HQ has some amazing deal with FB Live, or at least that’s what I want to believe. If that is the case, I suppose I can blame FB, but HQ gets some blame for not pushing for better results with dedicating one of the best things during the Open to this media outlet.

So good news if you jumped over to FB and watched Ro vs. Boz, Ro finally did it!!! He beat Boz, and in a workout I wasn’t sure he would be able to. There are a lot of C2B pull-ups, and those are not so advantageous for a big guy like Rory. But he did and that’s awesome! Way to go Ro! You’re off the schneid! Now if you win out 2017, you can claim a full season. Get Some! #TeamRo
