More Dumbbells

If you asked me after 17.1 if there would be more usage of the dumbbells in this year’s Open, I would have said no way. In fact, Walter asked me just that about 15 minutes before the 17.2 Live Announcement, and I said, “No Way! We’re done with the dumbbells for 2017.” As good as I am at predicting and guessing the direction we’re heading, I was clearly very wrong on this one. HQ and TheDaveCastro did it once again – stumped me anyways. I guess they were thinking if we’re going to make everyone get a bunch of equipment they may not already have, then let’s make it worthwhile!

So here we are in week 2 of the Open and dumbbells are here again. This time in the form of 2 per person doing front rack lunges and power cleans. As many guessed, they’ve added some gymnastics/bodyweight movements via the toes to bar and bar muscle-ups. My actual guess going into today was cleans, toes to bar, and wall balls. I also guessed 12 minutes, so I guess I kinda would have won my own contest 🙂 Though not sure if cleans covers db cleans, but if any of you had guessed it, I would have certainly given it to you.

If you didn’t watch the announcement and movement standards, we recommend you give them a look before coming in to do 17.2…
