WOD with Warriors

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): LAX CrossFit will once again be proudly stepping up as one of the only boxes in the LA area to host the annual “WOD for Warriors” event, sponsored in part by Team Red, White, and Blue. The event / Memorial Day WOD will take place at 10AM on Monday, May 25th (our only class that day due to the holiday schedule). If you’re in town that Monday, we expect…err, hope to see you there!

For those who do not know about Team RWB, it is an awesome non-profit organization with the mission to “Enrich the lives of American veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.” The group, which I happen to be a member of, has been an incredibly strong and growing force over the past many years in supporting veterans in what is typically a difficult transition and adjustment period when leaving the service (they also support those who are still on active duty). Events like 5K’s, yoga, marathons, hikes, mountain climbing, triathlons, mud-run’s, Spartan races, etc. all bring veterans in their communities together to provide a supportive network and opportunities to just get out, enjoy the outdoors, and stay happy and healthy through fitness. Through such events, veterans also get to connect with their non-military communities, which therefore gives our communities a way to connect with our veterans. The WOD with Warriors event is a perfect example of this, as our LAX family and our local veteran community will come together as one to knock out a tough WOD together, grab some chow (Carlos’ ‘Chop Shop Paleo Bowls’ and Nitro’s ‘The Honest Bison’ are planning on setting up shop), and potentially indulge in some amber-colored libations.

While the event is open and free for anybody who wants to participate, there is also an opportunity on the registration site to make a small donation to Team RWB. Additionally, there are still some 2015 WOD w. Warriors T-Shirts available here which also help support Team RWB; you know there’s always room for one more CrossFit t-shirt in that drawer…
