Travelling

Whenever I’m out on the road (which is rare…), I make it a point to try to hit up as many boxes as I can.   Why, cause I love to see how things differ from region to region and box to box.  Every box is uniquely owned and operated, and CrossFit HQ allows each affiliate to run their box however they feel fit.  As a result, literally every box you step into will be completely different than the next.  There’s no cookie cutter recipe for setting up a gym, and every detail that goes into it reflects the values and vision of the owners.

As a result, if you take the time to travel to different boxes, you’ll notice so many differences from what you’re used to, it’s mind boggling.  The way they warm up, the vibe, the kind of clients, the enthusiasm of coaching, the general feel, the workouts, the list can go on ad nauseum.

So next time you’re out of town, hit up some boxes.  Check out what they do.  Pay attention to the details of what’s going on over there.  Our current group warm up scheme came out of a trip I took to Portland (CrossFit XFactor).  You’ll never know what you might catch when you’re visiting other boxes that we might be able to put to use at LAX!
